Toothpaste vs Soap for Brushing Teeth
Who would have even considered products that go into our mouths should be suspect to the level where there is increasing danger to the public health?
The FDA is withdrawing several brands of toothpaste made in China from shelves in the market place because they contain traces of a chemical known to be hazardous to health - Diethylene glycol (DEG) - an industrial solvent used in engine coolants and anti-freeze. DEG was found in toothpaste sold in the Dominican Republic, Panama and in China.
In the 36,000 tubes of possibly contaminated toothpaste were tubes of toothpaste marketed for children with bubble gum and strawberry flavors sold under the name of “Mr. Cool Junior.”
Here are some of the names of the banned product from China with DEG, sold at low-cost outlet stores.

Check your brands.
In the meantime, reconsider the use of toothpaste especially as concerns, as the fluoride might also be hazardous to children's health, not by being in the product, but by children's behaviour of eating and swallowing toothpaste while brushing their teeth.
An alternative is to wash your mouth with soap instead(click here for earlier blog on this topic).
Know about the link between fluoride and other chemicals in toothpaste, toxic chemicals in tap water, and your dental health.

Cocoa/Tea Factor Tops Fluoride at Deterring Decay
Caffeine-cousin found in tea and dark chocolate proves a potent plaque-and-cavity fighter
Source: Craig Weatherby
Tooth decay is perhaps the most preventable disease plaguing humankind, but there have been few advances in cavity-fighting additives for toothpastes since the end of WW II. But a doctoral student at Louisiana's Tulane University has discovered a natural food compound that beats fluoride's anti-cavity power.
Researchers in Japan reported that cocoa bean husks and water-soluble cocoa extracts suppress decay-causing bacteria and plaque formation, and proposed their use to deter tooth decay (Ooshima T et al 2000; Ito K et al 2003; Matsumoto M et al 2004). Now we know the likely reason why the Japanese teams got results that may prove rewarding to lovers of cocoa and dark chocolate.
